Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, better called Ari Lennox, is an American musician and singer born in Washington, D.C., who was the first female to join J. Cole's Dreamville Records record label. Her first EP, Pho which was released on 21 October 2016 was released through Dreamville Records. The singer began to earn recognition. Shea Butter Baby her debut album was released on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox has uploaded her music on the internet since 2012 with her release of her first mixtape "Five Finger Discount" and her EP Ariography. She continued to upload her songs online throughout 2014, which included the self-released single Bound. In 2015, she was featured in Omen's Elephant Eyes Album on Sweat it out on July 21st. The following year, her music circulated throughout the Dreamville team as J. Cole wanted her to join him in creating some possible references for Rihanna. On December 28, 2008 it was revealed that Rihanna was hired to Dreamville Records. Backseat, a track she performed alongside Cozz in her Revenge of the Dreamers II collaboration album. She released Pho, her debut EP, on Oct 21 in 2016. Ari Lennox performed the song Change by J. Cole as well as opening the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017. She was supported by EarthGang. Also, she was featured on the songs Nothing but the Best by EarthGang and Icarus with Bas and her labelmates. Ari Lennox debuted her first single from Shea Butter Baby, Whipped Cream on 16 July 2018. A music video was followed by a music video in September. On November 9 she released two additional singles titled 40 Shades of Choke and Grampa. Then on the 13th of November, two brand new singles called The No One and pedigree. Shea Butter Baby was released as her first single on February 26, 2019 to accompany the album Creed II. Shea Butter Baby performed alongside Cole in her Creed II sound track on the 16th of November. In February of 2019 a music video was released to promote the song. The track has received more than 3 million views on YouTube in its debut week. As a support act she performed together with 6LACK in December of 2018 for their From East Atlanta With Love Tour.
